llya Kister, MD, completed a neurology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx and a multiple sclerosis (MS) fellowship at the NYU School of Medicine in New York under the mentorship of Dr. Joseph Hebert. Dr. Kister is currently Assistant Professor of Neurology at NYU School of Medicine as well as attending neurologist at the NYU-MS center in New York and the St Barnabas MS Center in Livingstone, NJ. He divides his time between clinical care of MS and related disorders and clinical research. Areas of research interest include: changes in trajectory of disability accumulation in MS in an era of disease-modifying therapies; MS course and symptomatology among different ethnic populations, especially African Americans; comorbidities of MS; neuroimaging of neuromyelitis optica disorders; early cognitive deficits in MS; and relationship of co-morbid migraine and other headaches to MS.
